President Dave Thompson
Dave is the owner of Dave’s Bar & Grill and Greenacres Hauling LLC. Additionally, he owns various pieces of commercial property within Modern Electric Water Company’s service area. Dave graduated from University High School and from University of Idaho with a B.S. in Business Administration.
Dave pledges that Modern will continue to provide low cost, dependable water and power to Modern’s customers and to provide financial stability for the company. He has served on Modern Electric Water Company’s Board of Directors since 2001.
Vice President Barry Baker
Barry is President of Baker Construction and Development. He has served on the boards for the Greater Spokane Incorporated, Spokane Valley Chamber of Commerce, Better Business Bureau, and Boy Scouts of America. Additionally, Barry was the past chairman of the Spokane Economic Development Council.
Barry pledges to continue working hard to keep rate increases minimal while upgrading and maintaining Modern’s infrastructure. He has served on Modern Electric Water Company’s Board of Directors since 2003.
Treasurer/Secretary Sam Waldron
Sam worked in the utility industry for over 20 years. One of his goals was to give back to the industry that has served him well and given him most of his professional experience. Serving on Modern’s Board of Directors allows Sam to use his knowledge to contribute to informed decisions for policies that benefit Modern’s customers and employees.
Sam pledges to continue the Board’s conservative philosophy and budgeting practices which help to keep Modern’s system reliable and in excellent financial health. He has served on Modern Electric Water Company’s Board of Directors since 2004.
Director Chuck Taes
Chuck’s business experience came from a sales and management career with Genuine Parts Company (NAPA). During the last four years of his 34 year employment, Chuck was in charge of 11 retail stores and worked with over 150 employees. Chuck has served on the Boards for the Museum of Native American Cultures, the Spokane Karting Association and the Spokane Gun Club. Serving on these boards has given Chuck a first-hand understanding of how a board functions, how they work as a team to provide guidance to the company, and how they represents the customers’ interests.
Chuck pledges to continue to keep Modern’s rates low while planning for the future and for infrastructure efficiencies. He has served on Modern Electric Water Company’s Board of Directors since 2009.
Director Scott Hislop
Scott grew up at Liberty Lake, Washington and graduated in 1988 from Central Valley High School. Scott completed his undergraduate studies at Gonzaga University. In 1995, Scott went back to Gonzaga University and attended Gonzaga University School of Law. He received his Juris Doctor in 1998.
Modern is fortunate to have Scott as a member of its board. His education, experience and community dedication will service the company’s shareholders and customers well. He has served on Modern Electric Water Company’s Board of Directors since 2013.
